The CustomControl system used in the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Breast Pump employs a two adjustment approach with a total of 32 possible variations.

Again, we love this design.   Keeping the milk separate from the tubes and motor is a necessity and the Proven Airlock Protection achieves it by means of a diaphragm barrier.

Why a system like this isn’t mandatory on all breast pumps is kind of amazing.

CustomFit Flange System

The Flanges are where your nipples enter.  The right sized flange is found where the nipple enters and allows just enough room so that flange wall rubbing does not occur.

Pros and Cons of the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Breast Pump

Pros

While the Ultra is a bit pricey, if you can afford it, it offers a nice collection of what you will eventually need to make supplying your babies milk easier.

Even though we are reviewing the Ultra, we like that you can get the same unit without the extras and totes, this can save you significant money on a very nice pump.  We commend Ameda for this provision.

The Proven Airlock Protection or something like it should be mandatory for all breast pumps as far as we are concerned. In a country like the U.S. where the FDA is so prevalent we are surprised its not.

The 32 variations on CustomControl make this a slam dunk breast pump.  So many variations keep your session short and comfortable with less chance of pain, how can you not be happier.

Not only are your sessions shorter but thanks to the Proven Airlock Protection your clean up is a breeze.  Tubes, caps and everything separated from the milk don’t need to be washed, in fact keep your tubes moisture free always.

We also very much like how well the storage bags work with the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Breast Pump.

Customer Service is magnificent, many cases of after the warranty help make this a serious Pro feature.

Cons

Yes, even with all these Pros, there are some cons.

The pump is strong, and the noise level is higher than some like.

The pump cycle has a signal best described as a beep which most find very irritating.

As nice as this Pump is, sometimes a bad one slips through, just like with cheaper pumps.  Seems to be an industry standard as far as we can see.  But with great customer service, we consider this to be a moot point.

The Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Breast Pump can be a little louder than some breast pumps, and it even has an annoying beeping during pump cycles, but despite that, we really like this breast pump.  We are enamored with the Proven Airlock Protection and love the CustomControl features.

And the fact that if you can’t afford and Ultra for about half the money you can get the same quality pump without the totes and extras makes Ameda a shinning white knight on behalf of moms who struggle with a budget like many do these days.
